Resumen:
El objetivo del presente estudio es documentar y describir las causas, motivaciones y
situaciones de dos madres con hijos menores de 3 años (sólo 1 de ellos recibió educación
inicial institucionalizada) y cómo perciben la educación inicial de sus hijos. Asimismo, se
destaca la relevancia que tiene la educación en un Centro de Atención Infantil de Guadalupe
en beneficio de su desarrollo. Se trata de una investigación cualitativa de corte descriptivo y
de campo (Kerlinger y Lee, 2002). Se entrevistó (Kvale, 2011) a dos madres de familia. Los
resultados mostraron, entre otras cosas, ambas madres consideran de importancia capital la
educación de su hijo, sea en un lugar especializado para ello o en casa, al estilo “tradicional.”
Ambas están de acuerdo en educar a sus hijos por el camino del “bien”, entendiendo por
“bien”, normas y reglas que sean de provecho y, claro, en beneficio de sus hijos. Quieren que
sus hijos sean piezas funcionales en el todo social. La mamá del niño que recibió educación
inicial, al ser docente, está de acuerdo que aquellos niños que cursan educación inicial tienden
a ser más hábiles y con mayor capacidad, tanto a nivel social como fisiológico, claro, esto en
la lógica de la mamá. La otra madre no descarta por completo que la educación inicial
institucionalizada puede ser importante para su hijo, pero por distintas razones no pudo hacer
que su hijo acudiera a alguna institución, no por ello considera para menos la educación
recibida casa. En conclusión, hablar de educación inicial y desarrollo en niños menores de 3
años es un reto complicado.
