This research addresses the analysis of four dimensions in order to fulfill the stated
objective, which seeks to analyze the motivational factors that determined the
admission to the postgraduate program and the expectations generated by the
CONACyT scholarship in MIHE students. The dimensions mentioned are academic
motivation, social motivation, economic motivation and expectations generated by
the CONACyT grant. Maslow’s needs theory is addressed as part of the theoretical
support. The design of the research is descriptive and applied in a cross-sectional
way with a mixed approach. The methodology applied in the research defines the
research modality, the instruments, the field work and the treatment of the
information obtained. The universe consisted of 301 students belonging to the five
generations of MIHE, with a sample of 75 students distributed among the
generations of the Master in Humanistic and Educational Research, equivalent to a
conventional sample of 25% of the universe. The results were presented in tables,
the result of the analysis of the data obtained using Google Drive and Excel tools. It
is concluded that the economic dimension is not the main determining motivation to
enter the postgraduate program, a tendency was mostly towards academic
motivation, and the hypothesis in this regard was correct. Social and economic
motivation played a secondary role in the results obtained, rejecting the
corresponding hypotheses. With regard to expectations, the hypothesis is also
rejected since the research did not show agreement on the part of the subjects in
the sample
