| Abstract: | Al cumplirse 60 años de la creación de la Casa de las Américas nuestro continente atraviesa por tensiones similares a las que la institución tuvo que enfrentar en sus momentos fundacionales. En aquel entonces emergió la revista de la Casa con la finalidad de contribuir a la revolución que se gestaba en América Latina y el Caribe. Desde sus páginas nos llegó una teoría de la revolución social que tomaba como punto de partida las especificidades de la región y colocaba el centro de atención en el carácter cultural de dicho proceso y en el papel de la intelectualidad de izquierda en el mismo. Tales elementos constituyen razones más que suficientes para realizar esta ponencia con la cual pretendo analizar la mencionada teoría en aras de recuperar para las nuevas generaciones de revolucionarios un pensamiento que forma parte de nuestra memoria histórica. |
| Description: | As 60 years have passed since the creation of the Casa de las Américas, our continent is experiencing tensions similar to the institution that it had to face in its founding moments. At that time the Casa magazine emerged with the proposal to contribute to the revolution that was brewing in Latin America and the Caribbean. From its pages came a theory of social revolution that took the region's specifications as its starting point and placed the spotlight on the cultural character of this process and on the role of the intellectuality of the left in it. Those specific elements are the most important reasons for making this presentation with the quality trying to analyze the aforementioned theory for the sake of recovery for the new generations of revolutionaries a thought that is part of our historical memory. |
