Resumen:
Este artículo es un itinerario de las rutas de la violencia de género y los estudios del desarrollo
en México, en la década de 1990, año en el que aparece el primer número de Debate Feminista,
publicación periódica sobre feminismo y perspectiva de género de la UNAM. La metodología que
se siguió fue el análisis del contexto a partir de dos elementos: las condiciones socioculturales y la
definición de la violencia que la revista ha tomado en consideración y aportación a un contexto más
amplio del académico, teórico, e intelectual del discurso feminista. Entre los resultados, se denota,
por un lado, la existencia de políticas gubernamentales para atender la condición de violencia que
sufren las mujeres, pero no acciones que cambien la posición de estas dentro de la sociedad; por
otra, la postura de la revista está íntimamente relacionada con el contexto histórico, mostrando la
complejidad del problema.

This article is an itinerary of the routes of gender violence and development studies in
Mexico, in the 1990s, the year in which the first issue of Debate Feminista appeared, a periodical
publication on feminism and the gender perspective of the UNAM. We analyzed the context from
two elements: the socio-cultural conditions and the definition of violence the journal has taken into
consideration and contribution to a broader context of the academic, theoretical, and intellectual
feminist discourse. Among the results, on the one hand, we understand that there are government
policies to address the condition of violence suffered by women, but not actions that change their
position within society; on the other hand, the position of the journal is intimately related to the historical
context, showing the complexity of the problem.
