Resumen:
Silvestre Revueltas, director de orquesta, violinista y compositor, representa a una de las figuras
más importantes para el arte musical de México y el continente americano en el siglo XX. La
presente investigación tiene como puntos focales la ideología y estética en la obra del músico,
resaltando el factor ideológico como de vital importancia en el desarrollo de su legado musical.
Partiendo de esta idea, se retoman diversas posturas en torno a la posibilidad del traspaso de la
ideología a la estética musical partiendo desde el binomio Arte y Revolución, haciendo una
comparación sobre realidades musicales paralelas a las del compositor en otras latitudes.
Tomando a Silvestre Revueltas como artífice de la reestructuración musical del México
postrevolucionario, así como de la configuración de la identidad nacional en los años posteriores
a la gestión de José Vasconcelos como Secretario de Educación Pública, se hace menester
conocer los antecedentes que dieron pauta a los hechos anteriormente mencionados, tomando
como puntos de partida los problemas de identidad acarreados desde el final del Virreinato hasta
entrado el siglo XX, así como la infravalorada actividad musical en el México del siglo XIX. El
trabajo indaga en los movimientos culturales, ideológicos y revolucionarios que influenciaron e
integran la personalidad artística e ideología de Revueltas, así como la materialización que estos
factores tienen en su estética musical, haciendo énfasis en obras destacadas para su
ejemplificación

Silvestre Revueltas, conductor, violinist, and composer, represents one of the most important figures
in the musical art of Mexico and the American continent in the 20th century. The
present research focuses on the ideology and aesthetics in the musician's work,
highlighting the ideological factor as vitally important in the development of his musical legacy.
Based on this idea, various positions are revisited regarding the possibility of transferring
ideology to musical aesthetics, starting from the binomial of Art and Revolution, making a
comparison with musical realities parallel to those of the composer in other latitudes. Taking Silvestre Revueltas as the architect of the musical restructuring of post-revolutionary Mexico,
as well as the configuration of national identity in the years following
José Vasconcelos' tenure as Secretary of Public Education, it is necessary to
to understand the background that led to the aforementioned events, taking
as starting points the identity issues that had been carried over from the end of the Viceroyalty until
well into the 20th century, as well as the undervalued musical activity in 19th-century Mexico.The
work explores the cultural, ideological, and revolutionary movements that influenced and
shaped Revueltas' artistic personality and ideology, as well as the materialization of these
factors in his musical aesthetics, emphasizing notable works to illustrate his
point.
