Históricamente, la raza humana ha estado expuesta a diversos tipos de desastres, tanto los que provoca la naturaleza, como aquellos que produce el ser humano con sus distintas actividades, y que tienen una
repercusión social y psicológica de diversas dimensiones. Entre los primeros están los provocados en la actualidad por el cambio climático, y entre los segundos los que tienen que ver con los intereses y con la tendencia autodestructiva de la especie.
