dc.description	In this essay I propose to analyse the concepts of "Culture", "cultural diversity", "multiculturalism", "Exoticism", "primitivism" in the context of representation or the symbolic representations of the other in Literature, Philosophy and in European Anthropology. The new approach to symbolic anthropology, inaugurated by Clifford Geertz and James Clifford, calls into question the superiority of the West in understanding and interpreting other cultures. In this essay, we will analyse the concept of cultural diversity based on the works of Pascal, Montaigne, Rousseau, Diderot and Chateaubriand, taking Tzvetan Todorov's work as a point of reference. We will analyse the experience of the encounter with other cultures, and the contrast between culture and civilization, civilization and barbarism	es_ES
dc.description.abstract	En este ensayo me propongo analizar los conceptos de “Cultura”, “diversidad cultural”, “multiculturalismo”, “Exotismo”, “primitivismo” en el contexto de la representación o las representaciones simbólicas del otro en la literatura, la filosofía y en la antropología europea. El nuevo enfoque de la antropología simbólica, inaugurada por Clifford Geertz y James Clifford, pone en entredicho la superioridad de Occidente para comprender e interpretar las demás culturas. En este ensayo analizaremos el concepto de diversidad cultural a partir de las obras de Pascal, Montaigne, Rousseau, Diderot y Chateaubriand, tomando como punto de referencia la obra de Tzvetan Todorov. Analizaremos la experiencia del encuentro con otras culturas, y la contraposición entre cultura y civilización, civilización y barbarie	es_ES
