| dc.description | The aim of this research is to analyze the Spanish language use as a cultural recovery symbol of the Chicano community represented by the characters of three different generations of the Reyes family in the novel Caramelo o puro cuento, written by the Chicano writer Sandra Cisneros. In order to support the ideas and simplify the analysis, it is necessary to integrate an outline including the contexts which surround the Chicano literary work; therefore, a historical, migratory, political, and esthetical structure will be provided. Additionally, in accordance with the background contexts and the main purpose of this study, a theoretical framework comprising Machismo, familism, acculturation and deconstruction as key concepts will be presented. Finally, as the main objective of this analysis is to determine the language recovery level of each of the characters pertaining to a different Mexican generation in the United States, it will be necessary to contemplate their level of acculturation | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | El objetivo de esta investigación es analizar el uso del español como un símbolo de reivindicación cultural de la comunidad chicana representada por los personajes de tres generaciones de la familia Reyes en la novela Caramelo o puro cuento, escrita por la autora chicana, Sandra Cisneros. Con la finalidad de defender los argumentos y simplificar el análisis, es necesario integrar un bosquejo que incluya los contextos de lectura que rodean la obra literaria chicana; de esa manera, se proveerá un esquema que contemple los aspectos históricos, migratorios, políticos y estéticos. Además, de acuerdo a los antecedentes y al propósito principal de este estudio, se propone un marco teórico que abarque conceptos como machismo, familismo, aculturación y deconstrucción como elementos clave de esta investigación y análisis. Por último, como el objetivo principal de este análisis consiste en determinar el nivel de recuperación del español por parte de cada uno de los personajes pertenecientes a distintas generaciones de mexicanos en Estados Unidos, es necesario contemplar, asimismo, el nivel de aculturación en el que se encuentra cada uno de ellos. | en_US |
