| dc.description | Press and translation have gone hand in hand since its inception. In Mexico, this relationship found favorable conditions in the period known as Porfiriato due to economic, industrial, and technical prosperity; and a prosperous exchange of information. This dissertation examines translation in El Instructor (1884-1910), a nineteenth-century magazine linked to the State, to explain the link between translation and the ideological, political, and cultural positivist project of the Aguascalientes elite. Based on sociological-cultural perspectives and historical principles of translation studies, together with Marxist concepts such as system, ideology, and organic intellectual; we present an analysis that allows us to characterize a rich and varied translation activity and a far-reaching local intellectual dynamism, where translation has functions of legitimization, teaching, and progress. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | La prensa y la traducción han ido de la mano desde su comienzo; en México esta relación encontró condiciones propicias en el porfiriato, gracias a la prosperidad económica, industrial y técnica, y al gran intercambio de información. Esta tesis examina la traducción en El Instructor (1884-1910), revista decimonónica ligada al Estado, para explicar el vínculo entre la traducción y el proyecto ideológico, político y cultural positivista de la élite de Aguascalientes. Tomando como base perspectivas sociológicas-culturales y principios históricos de los estudios de traducción junto con conceptos marxistas como sistema, ideología e intelectual orgánico, se presenta un análisis que permite caracterizar una actividad traductiva tan rica como variada y un amplio dinamismo intelectual local, donde la traducción tiene funciones de legitimación, enseñanza y de progreso. | en_US |
