Resumen:
En este texto se da cuenta las vicisitudes de dos personajes con influencia en el inicio de la
revolución de independencia en la región de San Luis Potosí y Zacatecas de la Nueva España. Sus
correrías los hicieron famosos pero denostados y calificados, Rafael Iriarte como traidor a la causa
insurgente y Francisco Álvarez, realista, como cruel y sanguinario. El destino de los dos fue muy
diferente. Iriarte fue fusilado tempranamente en el proceso de revolución y Álvarez sobrevivió
más allá de la consumación de independencia. En esta investigación son analizadas las actuaciones
de ambos personajes y su influencia en los inicios de la guerra en el centro norte novohispano.

Realizes about the vicissitudes of two characters with influence on the beginning of the independence
revolution in the region of San Luis Potosi and Zacatecas in New Spain. Their forays made
them famous but reviled and qualified Rafael Iriarte as a traitor to the insurgent cause and Francisco
Alvarez, realistic, as cruel and bloodthirsty. The fate of the two was very different. Iriarte was shot
early in the process of revolution and Alvarez survived beyond the consummation of independence.
The actions of both characters and their influence on the beginnings of the war in the north novo
Hispanic center are analyzed.
