dc.description	Based on the idea of the myth of the hero, this article tries to compare the social perception of two of the most notorious liberal leaders—Benito Juárez and Jesús González Ortega—during “the great national decade”, that is, the decade that the historian Miguel Galindo ranged from the years of the war of reform to the end of French intervention (1857-1867). My proposal is that the symbolic construction of both personalities—especially through history and music—has generated confused or mistaken perceptions about their legacies, in addition to the fact that the musical compositions dedicated to each one are a reflection of the consolidation of centralism.	en_US
dc.description.abstract	Basado en la idea del mito del héroe, este artículo pretende deconstruir la percepción social de dos de los más notorios líderes liberales mexicanos—Benito Juárez y Jesús González Ortega—durante “la gran década nacional”, es decir, el decenio que el historiador Miguel Galindo ubicó entre los años del comienzo de la guerra de reforma hasta el final de la intervención francesa (1857-1867). Mi propuesta es que la construcción simbólica de ambas personalidades—especialmente por medio de la historia y la música—ha generado percepciones obscuras o equivocadas sobre sus legados, además de que las composiciones musicales que se les dedicaron a cada uno son un reflejo de la consolidación del centralismo.	en_US
