The past, present and future always carry something hand in hand: historical
figures. Also, each era brings with it modifications to the characters that are part of the
history of current Mexico, such as Malinche, both literary and historical. Over time,
Malinche has crossed history among the rubble of historical stories, literature, cinema and
currently television series, adapting to the new living conditions that contribute to change
within a society. With this, the need is created to analyze the new form of representation
through tools such as visual semiotics, a study of film language, specifically, frames from
the “Malinche” series. In addition to seeing Malinche through hermeneutics, as a sign and
signifier. The frames have the intention of analyzing the character of Malinche not only
from the cinema, but also to verify the impact that this has on everyday life, a
representation of reality, to show the figure of Malinche from one of the functions that
marked her in the Conquest of Mexico: being an interpreter. In the series "Malinche" and
"Hernán" frames were selected that describe the figure of Malinche, her position, her
clothing and all the possible redeemable features surrounding the character. The
methodology of Lauro Zavala on film analysis and language and the theoretical support
of Cristina Siragusa are used as a basis for this research.
