La historia y la historia del arte, son caminos que transitan paralelamente pero que no por eso
se sobreponen, cada disciplina delimita sus fronteras, mismas que se respetan en esta
investigación. El recorrido que en este trabajo se presenta, está sujeto a la historia del arte,
sin dejar de atender el contexto histórico del siglo XI al XII en Europa central y sobre todo
en Toscana, de igual manera no pretende ser una revisión historiográfica ni iconográfica.
Contiene una fuerte carga de contexto cultural, porque es indispensable entender, la
situación de la Reppublica Pisana, y cómo su contexto, se puede reflejar a través de un
