Resumen : This book reinforces and widens students’ knowledge and competencies dealt with in the student’s
book.
Students and teachers are advised to use new technologies to gain a deeper and wider knowledge
of the language they are studying or teaching, enrich their work, and create and reinforce their
previous knowledge.
A teacher has not only the moral obligation to provide students with competencies and tools that
are key to conquering particular objectives and goals; he also has the responsibility of teaching with
his personal example. A teacher is a model that a student tries to imitate in the real world. A teacher
must be a guide: he must teach what he preaches.

Título : New Trends Competency Based English Language Course Student Book 1
Authors: Valdez Salazar, Jesús
Resumen : The overall goal of New Trends Competency English Language Course 1 is to go a little bit further
than levels A1 and A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference, one of the most popular
and accepted frameworks for language learning.
New Trends Competency English Language Course Student Book 1 and Reinforcement Book 1 have
been designed according to the goals set forth herein:
i). The systematic and gradual learning of the four basic skills of a language: Speaking, Reading,
Writing, and listening.
ii). The acquisition of knowledge, competencies, and practicality demanded by an ever-increasingly
competitive world.
iii). The acquisition and development of a higher level of mastery of reflection and creativity.
iv). The pondering, learning, and adoption of wisdom learned through reflection and analysis.
The framework of this book consists of five modules, which in turn contain six sections; each section
is sub-divided into six parts:
Part 1 is dedicated to the study and analysis of readings selected according to logical progress.
Part 2 is dedicated to learning and acquiring vocabulary related to the topics in the reading section.
Part 3 is dedicated to the acquisition of grammatical knowledge logically and progressively.
Part 4 is dedicated to writing composition, an essential ability that students must acquire to be
competent in the social, economic, political, and academic realms.
Part 5 is dedicated to listening comprehension, an essential ability for learning to understand people
from the English-speaking world.
Part 6 is dedicated to speaking, one of the essential abilities a student must have to express his/her
ideas, state his/her arguments, and persuade or dissuade to get to where he/she wants to go. This
section will increase students' creativity enormously.
At the end of the speaking section, we include a quote, a saying, or a proverb. We are convinced that
reflecting on and pondering these maxims can help students better understand and appreciate the
world they live in and develop good habits and attitudes towards their fellowmen and the planet.
Furthermore, after section 6, an additional section is added at the end of each module—section 7
deals with the acquisition of phonics, the phonetics of English. Students learn the correct way to
pronounce the Language by identifying and practicing combinations of vowels and consonants.
At the end of section 7, students take a "mastery test" in which performance is assessed on a scale
of 0 to 100

Descripción : Autobiography, as subgenre, sometimes underestimated, has its antecedents since the antiquity, although the history of the literature and the scholars of the autobiography consider Saint Augustine´s work Confessiones the oldest autobiography writing. Nevertheless the previous historical testimonies give evidence of the existence of this literary exercise before century V A.D. The protoautobiographic testimonies would be the monumental stelae and obelisks of the Mesopotamian and Egyptian civilizations respectively. These petrographies, which without being written by kings and pharaohs, narrate the achievements of these in first person to get them to be known (and sometimes feared) by their subjects. It can be considered as the oldest autobiographical exercise of written form to the book of Hosea, old testament, written in century VIII B.C. While centuries later of the Graeco-Roman culture scarcely have news of this type of literary resource; Such is the case of Bionius' testimony of Boristhenes in the work of Diogenes of Laertius or the news of writings called Memoirs which Suetonius relates at the beginning of the second century AD. Flavian Josephus (37-101 AD) Roman historian of Jewish origin wrote in Jewish Antiquities what could be considered as an autobiography in the strict sense at the end of the first century.
But prior to Suetonius and Flavius Josephus, St. Paul put fragments of his life into his letters or epistles and thus converted this fragments of his life into testimony to justify the foundations of the new religion he preached. Thus the apostle of the Gentiles inaugurated the interiorist writings which was very well to the patristics philosophy where St. Augustine´s work: Confessions found his best expositor.

Descripción : Transmodernity has impacted all aspects of life such as culture, education, politics, economics and the labor market, so the way to be educated is not only in the institutions but in the informality that it is offered in the courses on the Internet; how this discourse impacts in the professional decision of young people, since several thinkers such as Jorge Fernández and María Luisa Rodríguez Moreno demonstrate the erosion of the model of both higher education and the "labor market" as it was known it in modernity. In such a way, with the use of a questionnaire applied to young people of Program 1 high school of the UAZ, that are about to graduate, it is sought to find some answers regarding the factors that lead them to make their vocational decision. Factors such as influence of parents, economics and search for improvement guide students to search opportunities, especially in public institutions and to choose more traditional careers because although the students say to know "the future careers", they continue to define their professional trajectories for situations more in the realm of the emotional than the rational or logical.
